3D Wheel Alignment

John Bean System — factory precision for your safety

Driving straight? Or does your car pull to one side?

Wheel alignment is one of the most overlooked checks in car maintenance — and one of the most important for safety, comfort and economy. At Service Auto Drobeta we carry out wheel alignment using the 3D John Bean system, one of the most precise systems in the world, used in premium service centres across Europe and the USA.

What is wheel alignment?

Wheel alignment refers to the precise angles at which the wheels are positioned relative to the bodywork and the ground. These angles — toe, camber, caster and kingpin — are set by the vehicle manufacturer and ensure the optimal handling of the vehicle.

When these angles are wrong (due to a kerb strike, worn suspension components or an accident), the car becomes harder to control, tyres wear unevenly and fuel consumption increases.

What you gain with correct alignment

  • Improved safety — the car responds predictably to steering
  • Longer tyre life — even wear across the tread
  • Lower fuel consumption — less rolling resistance
  • Greater comfort — no pulling or unwanted vibrations
  • Suspension components that last longer

When should you check your wheel alignment?

  • You’ve hit a kerb, a deep pothole or been involved in an accident
  • The car pulls to one side even on a straight road
  • The steering wheel is off-centre when driving straight
  • Tyres are wearing unevenly (more on one side)
  • You’ve replaced suspension or steering components
  • Periodically — at least once a year or every 15,000–20,000 km

The John Bean 3D system — why it matters

  1. Precision to hundredths of a degree — impossible to achieve with traditional alignment
  2. Simultaneous measurement of all 4 wheels — via optical cameras, no contact with the rim
  3. Detailed report before and after adjustment — see exactly what was corrected
  4. Compatible with any vehicle type — cars, SUVs, vans

Frequently asked questions about 3D wheel alignment

Alignment refers to the angles of the wheels relative to the bodywork and ground — it is adjusted at the axles. Balancing refers to the even distribution of the mass of the tyre and rim — it is done individually on each wheel. They are two different and complementary operations.

On average 45–90 minutes, depending on the condition of the suspension components and the extent of the corrections needed.

Not recommended. If parts are worn (ball joints, bushings, track rod ends), the alignment cannot be set correctly or will not hold. We will flag any issues before starting the work.

We recommend an annual check, or whenever you’ve had an impact (pothole, kerb, minor accident), fitted new tyres or replaced suspension components.

Yes, the John Bean system is compatible with a wide range of vehicles, including SUVs, crossovers and light vans.
